fighter jet controls

Fighter Jet Controls - Ctre stick (or cter stick in the US) or simply control stick is an aircraft cockpit arrangement with the control column (or joystick) located in the center of the pilot, between the pilot's or copilot's legs. Since the throttle control is usually on the pilot's left side, the right hand is used for the stick, but left or two-handed operation is also possible if desired.

Ctre stick is part of an aircraft's flight control system, usually connected to the airfoil and elevators or elevons via the main aircraft control stick or control cable. On heavier, faster and more advanced aircraft, the ctre stick can also control the power assist module. Modern aircraft joysticks often also contain some easily accessible electrical control switches to ease the pilot's workload.

Ctre rods are used in many military fighter jets such as the Eurofighter Typhoon and Mirage III, as well as lighter aircraft such as Piper Cubs and Diamond Aircraft products such as the DA20, DA40 and DA42.

This arrangement contrasts with the more directly designed "sidelock" used on military fighters such as the F-16, F-35 Lightning II and Rafale, as well as civilian aircraft such as the Airbus A320.

Ctre wood originated in the late 20th century. In 1900, Wilhelm Kress from Austria developed an airplane joystick, but did not apply for a patent. Instead, in 1907, French pilot Robert Esneau-Pelter applied for the award.
